Global Communications Academy IB

Type
District/Open Choice

We are an International Baccalaureate World School, preparing our students to become first class global citizens. We offer a rigorous academic curriculum with three embedded themes: global issues, global systems, and global cultures. Our purpose is evident in our logo and thematic units of inquiry.

We are authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme in grades K-5.

THEME

Global Communications Academy is an international school model, which enables all students to be highly prepared for college. Global Communications Academy develops the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills students need to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalizing world.

Students will learn Spanish as a second language beginning in kindergarten.

Students will receive academic counselling, college and career exploration, college readiness workshops, and a Saturday Academy.

The school is designed around three major components: the IB Primary Years program for grades K–5 was authorized in the summer of 2013. The Middle Years program for grades 6–10 and the Diploma program for grades 11 & 12 are under development. All will be offered at one campus site.

SCHOOL VISION
Global Communications Academy will prepare students for world citizenship by providing an array of opportunities to inquire and develop intellectual, academic, social, and communication skills.

SCHOOL MISSION
Global Communications Academy embraces the diversity of our students, staff, families, and community. We willingly accept and share the responsibility of developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring global citizens. Our program offers a rigorous curriculum which fosters scholarly curiosity.
