Healthy Students Make Better Learners

The Body Shop, located at Hartford Public High School celebrated 20 years of service to its students through their fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASAC) health center. A wide variety of medical, preventative and complete medical exams and mental health counseling services are offered to the students. A nurse practitioner is able to prescribe and dispense medications whenever necessary, which diminishes the amount of time a student is absent from school for medical reasons. The full-time bilingual social worker also serves as an invaluable resource to students and families in need. Designated as a managed care provider, The Body Shop has contracts with all of the major Medicaid health care delivery agents, therefore can offer its services at no cost to students. The Body Shop has received numerous citations for outstanding service from the State of Connecticut General Assembly, the State Department of Public Health, the City of Hartford Mayor’s office and the Department of Health and Social Services.
