Principle

Academic/School Programs

Betances Early Reading Lab will focus on PK-3 early ready success. All teachers will receive extensive training in the teaching of reading and their classrooms will become model classrooms for the city. The school will focus on strategies that ensure that every child is reading on grade level by grade 3.

Betances Early Reading Lab utilizes the ‘Responsive Thinking Process” Model of discipline which encourages students to think about their actions and create a positive action plan. Students are expected to hold themselves accountable for their own behaviors and are required to be respectful and responsible and try their best throughout the school day.

Parental involvement is encouraged through participation in the School Governance Team, Parent Teacher Organizations (Betances PTO), Student Assistance Teams, Open House, Parent Teacher Conferences, student awards’ assemblies, day-to-day at home, and class projects.

Betances Early Reading Lab will draw students from each Hartford school zone with approximately 25% of students from each zone. Student will return to zone schools for grade 4 – 8.
