Journalism and Media Communications.

The Journalism and Media Academy is a program designed for those with an interest in the fields of Journalism and Media.  The curriculum will be infused with Media Literacy – students will be exposed to reading and writing for various formats as well as learn to understand the language, power, and business of the media world.

Students will be regularly exposed to and work in the areas of online/print, radio, and television media, working and learning from professionals in field.  Ultimately, the students at JMA will be media-literate, with high levels technology, writing, research, and creative thinking skills, making them competitive candidates for Journalism or Communication colleges and careers.

The goal of the school is to prepare media-literate, college-ready students who can access, analyze, evaluate and produce both print and electronic media. Media literacy builds an understanding of the role of media in society and provides students with the essential skills of inquiry and self-expression. The school will develop and deliver cutting-edge curricula that build skills in writing, critical thinking, and creative media production.
