The school currently serves a population of 766 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to grade eight. The cultures reflected in the neighborhood are African American and West Indian American with some Latino and European origin representation. The neighborhood has a strong bond of parents who care and are involved in the education of their children.

Rawson has a tradition of performance. It is one of the top performing schools in the City of Hartford. Students, parents and educators work together to ensure that learning performance is the most important factor in our neighborhood outside of safety. Rawson continues to have its students outperform the city average in all areas of district and state assessments.
