Dominick F. Burns Elementary School is a student-centered environment that enhances student learning and encourages students to work to their fullest potential. The school provides a clean, safe, and cheerful environment where kindness and nurturing are ongoing. The school strives for educational excellence for each student by producing independent learners and critical thinkers with high-level analytical skills. The involvement of parents, business, and community is integral in accomplishing this vision. Our facilities house 21 monolingual English classrooms, 12 bilingual and transitional Spanish-English classrooms, and 9 full time special education classrooms. Resource services for special education, speech and language, and social work are also provided. Burns School provides a variety of services to parents and community at large through our Family Resource Center. Some of these programs include: Family Night, Ladies Night, Ceramics, Cooking, Computers, Support Groups, Sewing, GED classes, Food Pantry, Team Fathers, and Workout Programs. Our school is implementing programs such as Character Education and Girls and Boys Town to promote and maintain the necessary student discipline to support academic achievement.
