At the April 22nd Hartford Board of Education meeting, chairman Eddie Perez and board members join Superintendent Steven Adamowski in congratulating University High School for Science & Engineering, for being recognized as a 2008 School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America. Magnet Schools of America provides leadership for innovative instructional programs that promote equity, diversity, and academic excellence for all students in public school choice programs.
The Body Shop, located at Hartford Public High School celebrated 20 years of service to its students through their fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASAC) health center. A wide variety of medical, preventative and complete medical exams and mental health counseling services are offered to the students. A nurse practitioner is able to prescribe and dispense medications whenever necessary, which diminishes the amount of time a student is absent from school for medical reasons. The full-time bilingual social worker also serves as an invaluable resource to students and families in need.
