A Home for Teachers in Hartford

Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin speaks.

On Tuesday, October 29, Teachers Village celebrated the official opening of their apartments in downtown Hartford. Mayor Luke Bronin and other guests were on hand to cut the ribbon.  Located at 370 Asylum Street, the former historic bank office building will now provide housing and amenities to teachers and other members of the community.

Certain units at Teachers Village are reserved for residents earning between 25% and 100% of the Area Median Income. The good news: Some 60 to 70% of the tenants will be Hartford teachers. The building also offers a lifelong learning center where residents and members of the community can further their education through certificate programs, workshops, and continuing education classes. Amenities also include recreation and fitness rooms.

Hartford Public Schools supports this effort to help teachers in the district to live and learn where they teach.
