Announcing the “May You Be the Biggest Loser” Attendance Challenge!
Let’s have fun, get collaborative and compete ending the year strong. May is a time to support culture and climate, add in the joy, work together as a school community and end the year with long lasting relationships.
“May You Be the Biggest Loser” is a district-wide Attendance Challenge for all schools and students; everyone competes to GAIN the LOWEST Chronic Absenteeism rates! Schools will compete against each other to determine who can reduce their Chronic Absenteeism rate the most each week.
Every Monday, or Tuesday for high schools, we will send out a district email with the rankings of where schools are after each week. Data will be shared so you can see your decrease. (Data utilized will ONLY be May data, so we all start on the same page and on a clean slate.)
Prizes will be awarded to the winning schools (students, admin and teachers) in each bracket. This will be determined by the greatest decrease in Chronic Absenteeism over the 4 weeks.
BONUS! THE SUPERINTENDENT’S CHALLENGE!
Schools in Brackets A and B are competing to name a challenge Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez will complete (for example, TikTok challenges). Schools in Brackets C-E will win a whole school prize.
Biggest Loser will run from May 3rd to May 31st. The Winner will be announced on June 1st!
By the end of the month of May our goal is that Chronic Absenteeism will be reduced from 44% to 42% through the implementation of attendance plans and incentives.
In order to ensure student health and safety if a student is ill they should remain home.
