Blue Hills Civic Association and The Center for Latino Progress Offer the Career Connections Program for Youth in Hartford Geographic Areas

The Center for Latino Progress will provide a Tier III Youth Employment and Learning Program to students that are residents of Hartford, attend Hartford Public Schools and completed the Summer Youth Employment Program in 2013. A Tier IV Career Connection Program will also be provided to students who are Hartford residents and meet specific academic, attendance and career competency standards.

For Tier III, youth will be provided with career competency training and activities using Capital Workforce Partners Career Competency System and will be placed in a paid internship opportunity related to their Career Cluster or Career Interest Inventory tool.

Tier IV  participants will complete an application which includes resume, transcript and a writing sample, as well as an interview. Youth will participate in specialized workshops, seminars and other activities geared towards career and college preparedness that will make them competitive candidates for employer paid positions.

Both levels will assess participants are work ready and will be monitored by Capital Workforce Partners. We hope this becomes a partnership between providers and participating schools to support young individuals success in achieving career competencies needed to compete in the labor market.
