Breakthrough Magnet Students Run in the Hartford Marathon

Eleven students from Breakthrough Magnet School ran the last 1.2 miles of the Hartford Marathon with their principal, Julie Goldstein on Saturday!  This was her 5th marathon.  The students are a part of the Breakthrough Runner's Club – they run 1-2 miles 4 mornings a week with our PE teacher (Joan Golden) and our Special Programs Facilitator (Lorrie Kellogg).

Also, a big shout out to Hartford Public Nursing Academy teacher Phillip Mitchell. According to yesterday’s Journal Inquirer  “with competitors from all over the world competing in the ING Hartford Marathon, it’s difficult for an area runner to crack the top 20. That however, is what Phillip Mitchell of Vernon did on Saturday. Mitchell’s time of 2:37:29 for the 26.2 mile race was good enough for 14th “(out of thousands). Congratulations Phil!!!!!
