Bulkeley High School & Classical Magnet School Students Win Awards for their Writing

The NEAG School of Education at University of Connecticut’s national screening committee selected Bulkeley High School senior, Abraham Fattouh as a state-level finalist  for the Letters about Literature contest.  There were 133 submissions that qualified for the state-level judging (out of a total of 854 for CT). Out of 409 submissions, 44 elementary pieces (Level I) will move forward.  Out of 261 submissions, 56 middle school pieces (Level II) will move forward. And out of 184 submissions, 33 high school pieces (Level III) will move forward.  The entries demonstrate the impressive strength of insight and writing skill that define this program. Joanna Echtenkamp, a senior at Classical Magnet School, has been awarded first place in the Connecticut portion of the Classical Association of New England Writing Contest.  The award letter stated, “Your work not only was enjoyable to read but showed a depth of knowledge about the epics.”
