Bulkeley High School Humanities Students Help Google Test Google Expeditions

Imagine visiting the bottom of the sea or the surface of Mars in an afternoon. With Expeditions, teachers can take their classes on immersive virtual journeys to bring their lessons to life.  Bulkeley juniors in the Humanities classes participated in the Google Expeditions Pilot Program, testing the cardboard visors which contained cell phones through which students experienced a 3-D virtual world.

Assistant Principal Rafi Lopez, teachers Justin Taylor, Paul Griswold, and Kim Childress help Google employee set up all the phones and tablets.

The students explored modern-day Rome including ruins and points of interest, while the teachers controlled the experience through a tablet, leading the srudents in and out of buildings, and changing the experience.

The students exploring the virtual world are visible on the teacher's tablet.

After the experience, the students filled out very brief questionnaires letting Google know what they liked and what can be improved. Go, Bulldogs!
