Bulkeley's National Honor Society and Key Club Members Volunteer at Peter's Retreat

As part of Global Youth Service Day, students in the National Honor Society and Key Club spent the first part of their spring break volunteering at Peter's Retreat, a local homeless shelter for people with HIV and AIDS.  The students, who worked in shifts from 9am-12pm and 3pm-6pm, were responsible for creating a brunch and dinner menu, cooking each meal, and serving it to the residents.  For brunch, students served pancakes, scrambled eggs, baked chicken, cheeseburgers, rice, salad, fruit salad, and cupcakes.  For dinner, the students prepared pasta with meat sauce, grilled cajun-style chicken breast, chicken soup, salad, and flan.  Students enjoyed the experience so much that they'll be returning at the end of April to prepare another meal for the shelter's residents.
