Call for Submissions: HPATV Photography Contest for Youth; Ages 11 – 25

“Amplifying Hartford Through the Lens of Our Youth” Will Showcase Creativity, Unique Perspectives of City Residents 11-25 Years of Age

Hartford Public Access Television (HPATV) announced the launch of its Youth Photography Contest – themed “Hartford Through the Lens of our Youth”. The competition aims to collect photographs that best reflect the authentic perspectives and views of the youth residing in the City of Hartford.

 

“Our young residents certainly have the talent and unique points-of-view to capture the many intriguing historical and contemporary characteristics of our capital city. HPATV’s Board, Staff and Volunteers are excited to give participants an outlet for their creative expression and full artistic freedom to speak their truths by submitting photographs of Hartford as they actually see it,” said Gil Martinez, Executive Director of HPATV.

 

There are three (3) eligible age groups; 11-15, 16-20 and 21-25. Youth residing in Hartford are invited to participate by submitting up to three (3) photo entries per artist.

DEADLINE for entries is Monday, November 18, 2019. There is no entry fee to participate in the contest which will offer three CASH prizes for each age category:

  • 1st prize – $200
  • 2nd prize – $100
  • 3rd prize – $50

 

The winning images will be featured at a special gallery opening and award ceremony hosted by HPATV at its new Community Gallery; the installation of which was made possible thanks to the State Department of Economic and Community Development’s Urban Act REDI grant program. The photographs will remain on display in the Community Gallery through February, 2020.
