Celebrating Batchelder School

Celebrating Batchelder School

The students, families and staff at Batchelder School continued to demonstrate their commitment to helping others throughout the school year. Some of these efforts included:

-fundraising in September for hurricane victims in Texas and Puerto Rico, to include a
contribution to the Connecticut Humane Society for the care and shelter of displaced

-student council members organizing and taking the lead to raise funds in October for breast
cancer research.

-during April and May, individual classes and staff members purchased materials to create
blankets that were distributed to veterans during Memorial Day weekend by the Civil
Air Patrol Cadets. A total of 28 blankets were crafted and donated.

-throughout May and June, the Batchelder community has been involved in selling ribbons
in order to raise funds for the Connecticut Cancer Foundation which provides support
to cancer patients and their families. The young child of one of our staff members
was diagnosed this past fall and is the Ambassador for the M.e.l.t.-a-thon event taking
place on June 9th. A team of faculty members will participate in the event in the hope
of increasing our contribution.

In addition, Batchelder School sponsored our annual Celebration of the Arts. Many families attended and participated in sports and games, viewed artwork created by the students, and listened to our Rock Band while enjoying a pot luck dinner.

Our 6th grade students engaged in student-led conferences again this year. Students presented their work to their parents/guardians along with goals for the year and progress toward meeting them.
