Classical Magnet Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month!
At Classical Magnet, we celebrate the diversity of our students and embrace the different cultures that make up our student body and staff. For Hispanic Heritage Month, FCSSP (Family & Community Service Support Provider,) Samariya Smith, coordinated with the high school government council to include notable facts about Hispanics from around the world. Students start their days off with learning something new about Hispanic cultures from around the globe. Bulletin boards are up throughout the school, and some of the teachers have incorporated Hispanic Heritage Month into some of their lessons.
The closeout event of Hispanic Heritage Month will take place on Thursday, October 17th, with Dinner and a Movie. With a planning committee of students from middle school, high school, staff and parents, there will be culturally relevant dishes proudly prepared by families, music to set the tone, decorations for a festive ambiance and the movie- “McFarland USA” to close out the evening.
McFarland is about track coach Jim White (Kevin Costner) is a newcomer to a predominantly Latino high-school in California’s Central Valley. Coach White and his new students find that they have much to learn about one another, but things begin to change when White realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability. More than just physical prowess drives the teens to succeed; their strong family ties, incredible work ethic and commitment to their team all play a factor in forging these novice runners into champions.
The Classical Magnet community is excited about the closeout of the month. Students, staff, parents and community members are all welcome to attend the closeout on Thursday, October 17th at 5pm. Classical Magnet is located at 85 Woodland Street.
