Classical Magnet School Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month

On Friday, October 18, 2013, Classical Magnet School, had its first National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.  Our purpose was for the community to learn about our diverse cultures and to have a taste of the Hispanic food made by parents and restaurants from Hartford, representing different countries.  Staff preformed a traditional folklore dance “La Plena”, different groups of students and staff danced to different rhythms like La Salsa, Bachata, Rumba, Carnaval Music with an spectacular closing from the Matica Arts' Capoeira performance.

We also had the representation of Miss Puerto Rico of Hartford 2013 and Miss. Puerto Rico Teen of Hartford 2013 and Ana Alfaro from Channel 18.

A thank you to Mr. Samuel Vega representing  Mr. Jeffrey Dressler, one of our most involved spokespeople for the Hartford Schools System.  All donations and funds received will go to the Organization Awareness Against Hunger. Thanks to all who made it such a wonderful event.
