Classical Magnet School Student Founds ENCORE Film Festival; Hitting the Screen on April 8th, 2017

The ENCORE Film Festival, to take place on April 8th at Hartford’s Spotlight Theaters, was created by Classical Magnet School student, Holly Weldon as her Capstone project. The purpose of the festival is to provide an open platform for Hartford students to express themselves and showcase their passion for film. Film festivals have the ability to change lives and a community, this is one of the main goals ENCORE hopes to achieve.

Holly Weldon is a current senior at Classical Magnet. She has always enjoyed watching films, but didn’t realize her true passion for them until she joined Civic Life Project, a documentary film club at Classical Magnet. This is when she truly became interested in film. Since then, she has made multiple documentaries, and has entered them in other local film festivals.

This is the first ever ENCORE Film Festival. With the help of Spotlight Theaters this film festival will be a great success and hopefully continue in the future.
