Comedy Night at the Ethel Walker School (Simsbury) to Benefit Hartford Public Schools Students in Horizons Program

Comedians Liz Miele and Lauren Hope Krass will provide a night of fun and laughter at the annual Night of Comedy and Community at The Ethel Walker School (Walker’s) on Saturday, February 11, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Funds raised at the event will benefit Walker’s Horizons program for Hartford girls. In addition to the show, there will be a silent auction, and cocktails and appetizers are included in the ticket price.

Horizons at The Ethel Walker School is a six-week academic and cultural enrichment program that improves educational outcomes for girls from Hartford public schools. Girls start the program in Kindergarten, and graduate from the program when they reach 8th grade. Each year, a new Kindergarten school is added, and the number of students grows.

Walker’s Horizons program is the country’s only all-girls Horizons program.

Walker’s launched the program in 2015, based on its commitment to girls’ education and its “private school, public purpose” philosophy. Thanks to the generosity and support of businesses and individuals in the community, and to the numerous Walker’s teachers and administrators who donate their time, Horizons is offered to the Hartford girls tuition-free.

This year’s entertainers are popular female comedians; Miele has been doing stand-up in New York City for more than six years, has been featured on Comedy Central’s “Live at Gotham,” and has released her debut comedy album, “Emotionally Exhausting.” She regularly tours with Nobodies of Comedy, and Armed Forces Entertainment.

Krass has entertained NYC audiences at numerous venues including The Creek and the Cave, Broadway Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, and The Laughing Devil. She has been featured in the New York Times, and has done stand-up at the Charleston Comedy Festival, the She Devil Comedy Festival, and the Annapolis Comedy Festival. She also is an award winning playwright.

The Night of Comedy and Community’s Live Auction items include private flying lessons, piano or voice lessons, a weekend getaway in Westport, Massachusetts, and many more!

All proceeds will fund Horizons student programming and instruction.

Comedy Night is appropriate for adults 18+, and will be held in the Ferguson Theater at The Ethel Walker School, 230 Bushy Hill Rd., Simsbury.

Tickets are $50, and include cocktails and appetizers. Appetizers are being provided by Simsbury’s Harvest Café.
