Dr. Michael D. Fox School has partnered this year with Capitol Squash, an afterschool program that provides academic and athletic enrichment. What is squash? Squash is an indoor racquet sport much like racquetball. There are 20 other urban squash programs nationwide like Capitol Squash.

Over 60 students at M.D. Fox tried out for a spot on the Capitol Squash team. Currently, Capitol Squash has 24 fourth and fifth grade students who attend programming 3 days a week at Trinity College. First, the students receive squash instruction and then academic tutoring. These students are expected to stay in the program through senior year of high school, with the end goal of 4-year college placement.

Capitol Squash runs all year round, including summers. Students can receive scholarships to camps, tournaments, and other enrichment opportunities. In its first year, Capitol Squash has sent students to New Haven and New York City to compete against other urban squash programs, and will be attending a three-day overnight tournament held at Williams College in June.
