Dr. Michelle Puhlick serves as the Senior Executive Director of Strategy, Organizational Development, & Communications reporting to the Superintendent and serving on the Cabinet. Dr. Puhlick oversees district strategic planning, organizational development, policy overviews and recommendations, and serves as the lead support to the superintendent on Board governance. In additional, she oversees fund development from corporate, private, federal, and state sources and serves as a liaison to our funders and strategic partners. Dr. Puhlick oversees district-level communications including the website, newsletters, creation of community materials, printing and mail services, and event planning for programs such as the HPS Teacher of the Year Annual Banquet and Teacher Convocation. Her work also includes co-leadership of the District Model for Excellence planning process to create a network of excellent schools in our district, among other key programs and projects working with the district’s many constituent groups.

Dr. Puhlick has over 20 years of experience in public education as a district leader, school level administrator, and classroom teacher at both the elementary and middle grades. Throughout her career she has participated in various district and state level committees, presented at the state and national levels, and served as both an Education Policy Fellow and Students at the Center Distinguished Fellow. Dr Puhlick is passionate about addressing inequities in education and believes that access to high quality educational opportunities is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Dr Puhlick received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in business and marketing, master’s degree from the University of New Haven in education, a Sixth Year degree from University of Connecticut in public school administration, and a doctorate in law and policy from Northeastern University in Boston.

Office of Strategy, Organizational Development, & Communications

The Office of Strategy, Organizational Development, & Communications oversees district strategic planning and organizational development, district communications, policy development and recommendations. In addition the office accelerates fund and partnership development linked to strategic initiatives and manages key programs and projects for the district, providing support for communications and outreach to the district’s many constituent groups.
