Engineering & Green Technology at HPHS and Pathways Academies’ Birds of Prey Team Brings Home Top First Robotics Prize as Part of Alliance

The winning Alliance of: BOP 181 (Academy of Engineering and Green Technology at HPHS and Pathways Academy of Technology) , Techno Ticks 236 (Lyme-Old Lyme high School), and the Tech Tigers 3654 (Mercy High School, Middletown) won the FIRST Robotics Waterbury District Event Tournament held this past weekend (March 4-5) at Wilby High School in Waterbury CT.

The Waterbury District Event is one of two New England District robotics Competitions held in CT.

The next tournament is the Hartford District Event to be held by the Academy of Engineering and Green Technology at Hartford Public High School on April 1st and 2nd, 2017.

The Birds of Prey (181) is in its 20th season as a FIRST robotics FRC team. The team went to the World Championships held in St Louis in 2016.

WATERBURY, CT-030417JS13–Steampunk was this years theme for The First Robotics Competition, Waterbury District Event, held Sunday at Wilby High School in Waterbury. Students, Jenny Colon of Pathways Academy of Technology and Design, and Palo Alcantara of the Academy of Engineering and Green Technology at Hartford Public High School dressed the part. 42 teams from throughout the state competed in this weekend-long competition.
