There are two separate lottery applications for district schools and magnet/open choice schools.

 The on-time lottery application for both Hartford District Schools and RSCO Magnet/Open Choice Schools opens on November 1, 2017 and will close on February 28, 2018.

  • The on-time lottery application for Hartford district schools opens on November 1, 2017 and closes on February 28, 2018.

 

MAGNET & OPEN CHOICE SCHOOLS

  • The on-time lottery application for magnet and open choice schools opens on November 1, 2017 and closes on February 28, 2018.

Who Can Apply

All parents or legal guardians of a student can apply.

  • Hartford Resident families can complete both the Hartford District Choice Lottery and the Regional School Choice (RSCO) Lottery applications.
  • Suburban families who wish to access Hartford Public School Magnet and Open Choice options apply only through the RSCO application.

What Families Need to Know After the Lotteries Occur:

Acceptance & Registration

  • ACCEPT IMMEDIATELY, ONCE YOUR FAMILY RECEIVES A LETTER OR EMAIL OFFERING PLACEMENT!
    • If a family does not accept with the time frame noted, the placement may be considered declined and the seat will be offered to another student. Families can accept electronically online or by returning the signed placement forms
  • REGISTER your child at their new school within two weeks of acceptance and before May 31, 2018.
    • Be prepared to bring the following documents with your child:
      • Photo ID of parent or guardian, Birth Certificate, Updated Physical Exam (blue form); Immunization Records; and Proof of Hartford residency (utility bill/lease/renal agreement)
  • All children living in the United States have the right to a free K-12 public education. Immigrant children do not need a green card, visa, passport, alien registration number or Social Security number in order to register for school
