Alfred E. Burr School's theme is "Strong, Traditional Academics for Responsible Students" (S.T.A.R.S.). Alfred E. Burr School students will attain high educational outcomes in language arts, math, and science. This experience will empower them to achieve success in high school and post-secondary education and to meet the challenges of becoming life-long learners. The Alfred E. Burr School is committed to the development of the highest academic, moral, and ethical standards in our students.  We strive to create a challenging, stimulating, and safe environment that promotes attainment of Academic Standards of the State of Connecticut, and that gives students the ability to effectively participate in the global economy.

Special Features and Highlights

Burr School was the recipient of a major construction grant and now has new and renovated classrooms, support service and administrative offices, a new gymnasium, a business education lab, two science labs, a redesigned library media center with attached offices and computer lab, a math lab, a new outside play area with plantings and paving, a designated parent resource room, and a new stage area with lighting and curtains.

The school has a significant partnership with the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) and is a grant recipient of United Technologies.

Extended Day Program: Alfred E. Burr School is a Community School. The Village for Families and Children is the Lead Agency for our extended day programming. The programming time is Monday through Friday for grades 1 – 8, 2:55 pm – 5:45 pm.
