The school learning community participates in a rigorous, classical liberal arts curriculum that is rooted in the Western tradition yet also embraces the universal elements of the human experience as found in other cultures. Instruction at the Classical Magnet School is based on the Paideia philosophy of education. Additionally, all students continue to develop their talents through an extended day enrichment program. We are committed to developing and maintaining a racially and ethnically diverse student body.

Special Features and Highlights

At Classical, we strive to create an educational experience founded in the liberal arts, which concentrates on a student’s ability to read and think critically, write clearly, communicate effectively, and solve problems. These skills will carry a child through a changing world more seamlessly than training for any particular career, and can be used to explore any career interest later in life. We want students to receive a full high school experience by pursuing a wide range of activities on campus between 7:45 am and 4:00 pm. We know that these experiences will help them to enjoy and appreciate their adolescent years. We challenge students to center their focus on Classical and the opportunities we offer for most of their waking hours, and we ask them to take a deep breath and enjoy these important years of their lives.

Preparing children not only for school but for life requires that we give them authentic opportunities to interact with people who are different from themselves. With students from 42 towns and a student body that represents all of the region’s demographics, we have a unique opportunity to shape the emotional intelligence of our students, and instill in them an important sense of empathy for others.

Education that Extends Well Beyond the Classroom

Non scholae sed vitae discimus- We learn not for school but for life.

Classical Magnet School provides a learning environment focused on the whole child and offers a challenging college prep curriculum that is rooted in the classics and liberal arts which encompasses critical reading, writing and thinking and problem solving skills, along with development of interpersonal skills necessary for lifetime success.  Our Paideia-based method of instruction prepares students for acceptance at prestigious universities, and teaches them to be active citizens in a global community.

There are so many options when it comes to your child’s education.  Be sure to take time to learn which school would provide your child the best opportunity for success, based on their interests and needs.  We will be hosting Virtual Fairs for our schools December 7 – 11 as well as January 25 -29.  Look for more information coming soon.   As a reminder, the application period runs from December 1, 2020 through February 28, 2021.  Read more about all of your available choices here:
