The Nursing Academy at Hartford Public High School prepares our young adults to successfully pursue a degree in nursing or related health care/science-based courses of study. The Academy provides students with a rigorous, high-quality education through its academics, enrichment programs, nursing and health care-related internships, and community service. Nursing and health care themes are threaded throughout the entire academy curriculum.
The Nursing Academy has four courses articulated with Capital Community College: Algebra II, Anatomy and Physiology, Developmental Psychology, and Public Speaking. Students can earn up to 15 credits at CCC or transfer the credits to another school; students are dually enrolled in high school and college at the same time.
Special Features and Highlights

The Academy has numerous partnerships with area health care providers for internships and focus groups: Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Department of Public Health, Capital Workforce Partners, Catholic Charities, Education Connection, and CT Area Health Education Council.The University of Connecticut and Capital Community College are strong post-secondary partners, providing students with opportunities to visit the schools and participate in health care-related classes. We also offer CPR and first aid certification as part of our Anatomy and Physiology class.
