In the early 1900s, Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy’s first female physician, developed educational materials and methods based on her belief that children learn best by doing. Dr. Montessori believed learning should occur in multi-age classrooms where children at various stages of development learn from and with each other. Her advice was always, “Follow the Child.”

Instruction is based on the child’s inherent love of learning and is encouraged by giving them the opportunities to engage in spontaneous, meaningful work.

Annie Fisher Montessori celebrates the fact that every child learns differently. Differentiation is built into the Montessori pedagogy, and every student has his or her own individual learning plan. Students work collaboratively in small groups throughout the day on interdisciplinary projects. The goal of a Montessori education is to graduate students with a vision of what the world can be, and the resources to lead and accomplish that mission.

Special Features & Highlights

  • Education for Life – Montessori programs are concerned not only with the mastery of curriculum, but also with helping each child realize his or her potential to become a contributing member of the community.
  • Foster Independence – Montessori education respects every child’s different pace of development. Teachers or “guides” observe and plan activities that best serve the needs of each individual child.
  • Integrated Academic and Social Curriculum – Montessori materials encourage exploration of five major areas: Practical Life, Sensorial Experience, Math, Language, and Culture.
  • Hands-on Learning – Students learn through observing and interacting with their environment through guided exploration and discovery.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Learning – At the center of all levels of Montessori education sits the prepared environment. “Education is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment.”

What People Are Saying

Students Say :
“I like this school (Annie Fisher Montessori) because it is very special. It is special because unlike most schools we do not have to do the same work at the same time. Also, we have many materials to help us learn if we don’t understand something. I enjoy coming here because I know every day is going to be a new day and new lesson.”
Stephanie Lebedeva-Lopez – Upper Elementary Student

Parents Say :
“What blew me away about Annie Fisher Montessori was that even before my son could write he was doing phonetic spelling with the “moveable alphabet” and math with the “golden beads.” Very young children can do and learn much if we just give them the proper tools. I couldn’t be happier with both my sons' learning at this school.”
Eliana Tsukroff – Parent
Teachers Say :
“We care for our children. Annie Fisher Montessori is not just about 'ABCs' and '123s', we care for our children as people; we want them to blossom from the great children they are into great, productive citizens of the world. We do not approach their education with a 'one-size-fits-all' mentality. We meet the needs of each child individually because they are all unique. That is what I love about our school.”
