ESM at Mary Hooker Hosts Jumpstart and Read for the Record

 
The Environmental Sciences Magnet (ESM) School at Mary Hooker hosted Jumpstart and Read for the Record on October 3rd in Hartford.  Volunteers from Central Office, United Way, and Mega Education gathered at ESM to receive copies of the children’s book Otis by Loren Long and then dispersed throughout the city to visit and read to second graders.

This year a record was set when 2,462, 860 people participated in this event nationwide.  Hosted to engage students and adults in a mission towards enhancing early literacy, this was surely a day to celebrate.
