Family & Community Engagement Speaker Inspires with Talk on Urban Trauma

On Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Bulkeley High School, Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez and the Office of Family & Community Engagement welcomed over 200 guests to their free event, Hopes and Dreams 2020.

Children were able to play in the attended Childcare Room, while adults went to the auditorium to be inspired by Dr. Maysa Akbar, Amazon Best Selling Author and Speaker. With great passion and poignancy, Dr. Akbar shared her personal story and research as it relates to Urban Trauma as well as interactive coping mechanisms. The activities planned were meant to inspire and motivate all attendees to dream and plan for their future. Dr. Akbar’s presentation was interactive, real, and moved every heart in the room.
