For HPS Employees: The 2013 United Way Campaign is On!

For HPS Employees:  The 2013 United Way Campaign is On!

It’s that time of year again….We are launching the 2013 HPS United Way Campaign from 11-7-13 to 11-25-13.   I am proud to be the chairperson for Hartford Public School’s Annual United Way Campaign. Our motto this year is “Can you give a dollar”? We are asking that all employees commit to only $1. 00 per pay period (obviously we will accept larger contributions!!)…if our over 3000 HPS employees commit to only $1 per pay period we will easily surpass any HPS contribution made thus far!!
United Way and the Hartford Public Schools partner in ways which help children and families succeed through integrated efforts focused on helping children and youth succeed academically, families to become financially secure, individuals to have access to healthcare services, as well as providing food, shelter and other essential services when we all need them.
Last year, 121 employees (only 4%) helped to support important programs and services that affect or children and families by raising over $16,000.  Our goal this year is for 900 employees to give up $1.00. we could raise $23,400.
What is a $1.00?  $1.00 can provide someone with three meals.
$23,400 can provide 70,200 meals through United Way partnerships. Join us with a $1.00
The HPS campaign will run from Thursday, November 7 through Monday, November 25.  Payroll deductions will not start until the 1st pay period in January 2014.
I invite you to further impact the lives of our children and families in our community by making a gift to United Way Community Investment. Imagine what we can do!  Can you give up a $1.00 per pay period to help change a life?
In 2012, Environmental Sciences Magnet School @ Mary Hooker won the United Way Campaign Champion trophy for the highest employee participation.  Which school will be the winner this year?
