Hartford Public High School Science and Engineering Teacher Earns ENR Award

Congratulations to Dave Mangus and his hard-working students at the Academy of Green Technology at HPHS!

Our Mr. Mangus earned an Award of Excellence as one of the Top 25 Newsmakers at the 2018 ENR Awards which celebrate excellence in the construction and building industry.

LEARN MORE BY WATCHING VIDEO BELOW.

To select ENR Newsmakers, ENR’s editors search the magazine’s web and print pages for individuals who had served the “best interests of the construction industry and the public.”

While the nominees come from every market sector and represent many professions and job titles, the winners all have three things in common: They innovate, they overcome challenges, and their accomplishments offer benefits that will have an impact beyond their own companies or institutions.

Mr. Mangus and his students have built, shipped four portable, 1 kilowatt, hybrid (wind and solar powered) and one wind-only electrical generators to remote villages in Nepal since 2013 and will create a unit for hurricane-torn Puerto Rico this year. They will build two 2 kilowatt systems for Nepal next year.

If you have any questions about engineering and project-based learning at HPHS, please email Mr. Mangus or Dayl Walker of CBIA.
