Hartford Public Schools CSDE and CCSS Implementation

 
The HPS Office of Academics submitted the Memorandum of Collaboration with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) which launches the district’s commitment to work in partnership with CSDE to implement CCSS in Hartford Public Schools. As a component of this collaboration, the district has established a Common Core District Team. Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Carole Collins Ayanlaja will lead the district team.  Leslyee Frederick and Dr. George Michna of the Assessment team will serve as Smarter Balanced leaders. Michelle Puhlick, Executive Director of Curriculum and Assessment will support the team leadership.          
 
This team will be responsible for receiving and processing important information about CCSS in order to inform district implementation. The district team will engage in CCSS Professional Learning Communities, implement a 2013 CCSS aligned practice assessment, confer with other districts to exchange information, and provide feedback to the CDSE on how the Department can support the ongoing work of Hartford Public Schools.
