Hartford Students Welcome UAE Dignitary to their City

On October 6th 2016 a group of Hartford Students hosted by the World Affairs Council of Connecticut welcomed His Excellency Majid Al Sudwaidi, Consul General of the UAE to New York to a discussion on climate change.  (Pictured above right to left: His Excellency Majid Al Sudwaidi, Allen Haugh, Shanae Porter, Shena Burch and Devonish Brown.)

Shanae Porter from the Law and Government Academy and Shena Burch from the Global Communications Academy were the first two students to speak. They welcomed the other students and the Consul-General by officially welcoming him to Hartford. They are currently members of the Hartford School’s Model United Nations Club and are representing Germany at the Connecticut World Affairs Council’s 62nd Model United Nations Conference this December.

The Consul-General covered a number of areas in the discussion from diplomatic responses to climate change, the domestic responses of the UAE to climate change from both a wellbeing and youth perspective as well as the importance of tackling stereotypes when exploring new ideas and concepts.

Other Hartford students in attendance included Moussa and Amir Sebadduka, Win Paw, Paw Shee, Devonish Brown and Gavin Parkman.
