HMTCA Swimmer Breaks State Record

On Saturday, February 1, 2020, Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy swimmer, Jocelyn “Jocie” Niemczyk, became the state champion in two events at the Connecticut Middle School State Open Championships held at Southern Connecticut State University, and in doing so set a new state record in one.

Jocie, who is an 8th grader at HMTCA from Vernon, CT, and a member of the HMTCA Middle School
Phoenix Phins Swim Team became a state champion when she won the 100 yard freestyle race with a time of 56.10 seconds.  This was shortly after she won and set a new state record in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 31.10 seconds, almost a second faster than the previous record.
