Honoring All Our HPS Teachers for National Teacher Appreciation Week and Day

Dear Families, Colleagues, and Partners,

This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week and National Teacher Appreciation Day is on Tuesday, May 4. I am extremely grateful and pleased for this opportunity to thank our educators for the invaluable work they do every day ensuring the success of all our beautiful and capable students.

To their students, and to all of us, our teachers are truly heroes. This year, a year like no other, our teachers adapted to unprecedented challenges, adopted new ways of learning, and continued demonstrating their unwavering dedication to our students.

Our teachers work tirelessly to provide the high-quality teaching and learning that is central to our mission. However, we know the commitment of our teachers goes beyond academics. In partnership with administrators and staff, they serve as tutors, mentors, and as caring adults who form a vital part of the support system to meet the needs of the whole student. They partner with parents and caregivers to keep families informed and cultivate learning environments that are engaging, inclusive, and safe.

Our teachers have also provided social-emotional learning in the classroom, as well as culturally responsive teaching, during a challenging period. We know they have done so while balancing the needs of their own children and families.

I share my deepest gratitude for all our HPS teachers, and I am eternally thankful for the tremendous support they provide to our students every day. Thank you HPS Teachers!

Please join me in honoring our teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week and Day. Be sure to #ThankATeacher this week and beyond.

With gratitude,

Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez
