HPHS Academy of Engineering and Green Technology Wins Kelly IT Engineering Grant

Congratulations to The Academy of Engineering and Green Technology for receiving this year’s Kelly Engineering Resource Academy of Engineering Grant. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 grant to help fund special projects throughout the 2012-2013 school year.  Other recipients include Century High School in Santa Ana, CA and H. Grady Spruce High School, Dallas, TX.
At the Academy of Engineering and Green Technology, grant dollars will be used to supplement the school’s Project Light the Way curriculum, through the purchase of solar panels, DC motors and fuel cells.  This grant funding will provide the components which will allow students to take part in a hands-on engineering and green technology competition.  Students will be challenged to design and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of solar panels, small-motorized wind turbines or fuel cells.  Students will be responsible for gathering and recording supporting data and documenting results.
