HPS Launches New Communication Platform
To Support Stronger School-Home Connection
To unify all family communication from the district, schools, and classrooms under one umbrella, Hartford Public Schools is launching ParentSquare, a simple and collaborative school-home communication platform. The goal is to reach and engage families, ensuring all parents and guardians have the opportunity to actively participate in their child’s education.
Starting next week, HPS will pilot ParentSquare with 18 schools across the district for the remainder of this school year. In the fall, all district schools will transition to the platform. The pilot schools include:
- Bulkeley High School
- Capital Preparatory Magnet
- Great Path Academy at Manchester Community College
- Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy
- Pathways Academy of Technology & Design
- University High Magnet
- Weaver High School
- Betances STEM Magnet School
- Breakthrough Magnet School North
- McDonough Middle School
- M.D. Fox School
- Naylor School
- Rawson School
- Sanchez Elementary School
- SAND School
- STEM Magnet School at Annie Fisher
- West Middle School
- Wish Museum School
By unifying multiple tools into one platform, ParentSquare provides an improved and seamless experience for families and staff. Families will be able to keep track of news, activities and events from all their children’s schools in one place. ParentSquare is now available for staff and parents to use on their computers or mobile devices.
HPS hopes that ParentSquare’s intuitive, two-way platform will facilitate greater communication. The platform provides a safe way for the school principal, teachers, staff, and families to:
- Send and receive school and class information
- Share pictures and files
- See calendar items
- Sign up to volunteer
With ParentSquare, families will be able to enjoy pictures posted by teachers and group directors, fill out forms and permission slips, sign up for parent-teacher conferences, check grades and attendance and much more. School staff and families can engage in both one-on-one and group messaging with real-time language translation into more than 100 langugaes.
HPS’s partnership with ParentSquare will enable a stronger dialogue between school and home, and will help empower everyone within the school community to stay connected and informed.
