HPS Partners with DonorsChoose to Support Classroom Projects
Hartford Public Schools is proud to announce a new partnership with DonorsChoose, the national nonprofit charity that helps educators raise funds for classroom projects. The collaboration provides several benefits, including a dedicated landing page for the district on the DonorsChoose website that features teacher requests for donations.
Through the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program, HPS teachers can create projects to fund a variety of classroom needs, from books to art supplies and other tools that enhance the learning environment and support the success of our students.
As a member of the program, HPS will be able to monitor all donated materials. Principals will be notified each time a project is funded and receive early notification when there are new “match” funding opportunities. To ensure safety and security, DonorsChoose vets each request, ships the funded resources directly to the classroom, and provides thank yous and reporting to donors and school leaders.
The Partnership Program has the potential to greatly enhance HPS efforts to meet District Model of Excellence priorities and goals. With DonorsChoose, teachers can tap into a network of 4 million donors. HPS teachers have already raised $1.5 million and completed over 2,800 projects on the platform.
And now is an ideal time to create a project: All day on December 3rd, DonorsChoose will be celebrating GivingTuesday by matching all classroom projects 50%; that means a $20 donation to your project will become $30 and so on.
