HPS Students Shine at the Hartford Youth Art Renaissance

The 42nd annual Hartford Youth Art Renaissance award ceremony and reception took place on Saturday, May 16th. Students, families, teachers, and administrators were in attendance. This event celebrated 100 pieces of student artwork that were shown in the exhibit at both the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art and the Hartford Public Library the past four weeks. All students were recognized for having their artwork selected for the exhibit. Several additional awards were also announced at the ceremony, including Awards of Excellence for four grade levels, the Audience Favorite Award, the Hartford Art School Artist of Promise Award, and the High School Portfolio Awards.

Tracy Kane, the Director of Arts in the Office of Academics in Hartford Public Schools has announced JMA art teacher Donna Frustere and her grade 12 students: Joseph Pouncey, Shamoya Hanson, Odane Campbell, Luis Mejias, Tenia Franklin, and Chris Ocasio were recognized at the Award Ceremony & Reception for the Hartford Youth Art Renaissance. The formal ceremony was held at the Wadsworth at 11:30 on Saturday, May 16.

Their work was hanging in The Hartford Public Library and Wadsworth until May 24th.
