Act Up Theater Presents Black Lives Matter Workshop for Students in Grades 5-12
This Black History Month, ActUp Theater hosted a workshop on Black Lives Matter for our Hartford families grades 5-12 on February 25th 2021 at 5:30 PM.
All grades 5 – 12 students and their parents and guardians were welcome to ACTIVATE! (Parental discretion advised for viewers younger than 10.)
ACTIVATE is a series of virtual arts workshops created by ActUp Theater, Inc. It was formed in response to the recent heightened awareness around social justice to help people, like you, to become change-makers in our community. Through ACTIVATE, we use the arts to have courageous conversations to move the culture forward.
The topic of the workshop was Black Lives Matter. A movement erected to bring awareness to unjust killings and Black people’s humanity. Black Lives Matter should concern everyone who cherishes freedom. This workshop will provide action items to ensure society value Black lives while utilizing songs, monologues, and dances to encourage participants to actively center Black joy, educate on the journey of Black Lives over time, and support Black existence.
