The Hartford Line will increase dramatically the number of daily trains running between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. Between Hartford and New Haven, daily weekday train service will increase from 12 to 34 trains per day! And daily weekday trains between Hartford and Springfield will increase from 12 to 24 trains per day.

With the significant increase in daily train traffic, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) wants to share simple, yet lifesaving tips, about how to navigate railroad tracks in a safe manner—for pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, and train passengers.

As part of this effort, CTDOT is launching a public awareness campaign to educate the public about rail safety before the launch of the Hartford Line.

This public awareness campaign is being launched in conjunction with Operation Lifesaver, a national non-profit organization dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities, and injuries at street-level rail crossing and due to trespassing on or near railroad tracks.
