Boston Celtics and Optum to Team Up with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary for Day of Volunteering

The Boston Celtics and Optum have teamed up with the Dr. Martin King Jr. Elementary School in Hartford to host a day to make a difference through volunteering. Boston Celtics players, legends, politicians and volunteers, along with Optum volunteers and students from the Dr. Martin King Jr. Elementary School, completed projects to help enhance areas around the school.

The volunteers participated  in projects such as painting murals, basketball courts and blacktops, building storage cubbies and bins, and reorganizing classrooms. The day of volunteering also included a tip-off rally and assembly with all students, and remarks from members of the Boston Celtics and Optum. Congressman John Larson was also in attendance.

This program is part of The Celtics “Making a Difference through Volunteering” project and the Optum Corporate citizenship initiatives. The Boston Celtics and Optum are committed over the next five years to work together for the betterment of the greater Boston Community.
