    his/her assigned school.

Peter Dart, Principal of Environmental Sciences School at Mary Hooker recommends Victor Rodriguez as a truly dedicated School Safety Officer who works hard to keep our students staff and visitors safe. He is a team player and has immersed himself into the school community as a coach, role model and mentor in addition to his duties as a School Safety Officer. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated Officer at Mary Hooker. His efforts every day and his genuine concern for the safety and security of all make him truly deserving of this award.

Officer Rodriguez is the most important person on my staff.  He continuously ensures that we are safe and able to focus on teaching and learning.  His interactions with the community, faculty, staff, students, and parents are outstanding as it is based on mutual respect and a commitment to our school wide mission.   He is personable, approachable, and is able to relate to all.  I have witnessed him coaching teachers on classroom management, advising staff on active supervision, and mentoring students.  He has mediated tough meetings between parents, students, and teachers.  And, he has advised me on strategies and areas that need to be addressed.  His relationship to our community allows him to be proactive and supportive.  When needed he understands best practices in safety within the context of a school and is able to respond quickly and efficiently.  Our discipline data clearly is a result of his work:  For the past two years we have had at least 90% of our students with zero or one office referral for the entire year!  Officer Rodriguez participates in our safe school climate/PBIS team and is able to use his knowledge and expertise to positively affect programs that help students stay safe.

Congratulations, Officer Rodriguez!
