Montessori Magnet School Holds Veterans Day Celebration

 
 
On November 11th, parents, friends and school community joined Montessori Magnet in their first Veteran’s Day
Celebration. They welcomed C. Mandell and McKenzie Sanchez and their guest veteran was Major Alan B. Goldstein.
The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Nicholas Duras and a Memorabilia Share and Story was given by Major A. Goldstein.
Songs sung included:  Good Morning, Make New Friends, The Continent Song, Do Your Ears Hang Low, and My Country ‘Tis Of Thee
 
Alan B. Goldstein is a retired Air Force Major. He was in the Air Force for 27 years; this time included active duty, guard and the reserves. In addition to serving in the Air Force, Major Goldstein served as a Math Teacher at Manchester High School.  He served his country in many capacities during the Vietnam Conflict. Major Goldstein was stationed in Tucson, AZ. His   responsibilities included; various administrative duties including maintaining pilot records. In 1976, he received his  commission as a second lieutenant through the CT Air National Guard. In this position he was a Ground Safety Officer at
the base in Windsor Locks, CT. After 11 years, Major Goldstein transferred to the Air Force Reserve in Chicopee, MA. There, Major Goldstein held operational positions. He served with the 58th, 59th and 42nd aerial port squadrons. As an airfreight  officer, he insured that the plane was loaded properly. The cargo needed to be sequenced, evenly distributed and balanced. In addition, he was responsible for overseeing (50) airmen. Major Goldstein proceeded to teach Mathematics at Manchester High School and has since retired after nine years. Today, Major Goldstein is dedicating his life to his family,
friends and community.
