My Future Now

“My Future Now” is an original song by Qusharia Perry, a junior at Bulkeley High School  It is inspired by the Hartford Public Schools’ slogan, “Where the Future is Present.” A very confident Quesharia performed the song and received a standing ovation from the teachers and administrators at the Convocation ceremony that kicked off the 2012-2013 school year.

Verse 1:
Now’s the time to find yourself,
to make mistakes and
learn from them
Trust your heart
and love to help the ones who truly care.
Find a path, an open door.
To chase your dreams, just go explore.
That’s all you need, nothing more, nothing more.

Chorus:
Where is my future present?
Where will I be years from now?
Where the future is present,
once lost, but now I’m found.
THIS IS MY FUTURE NOW.

Verse 2:
Action speaks louder than words
and everyone has a voice that can be heard.
But you and I we have to try,
‘cause time is on our side.
Time is on our side.
Success flows through our veins.
Opportunity lives in our brains.
Achievement hides in our hearts.
This is where our lives will start.

Chorus (X2)
Where is my future present?
Where will I be years from now?
Where the future is present,
once lost, but now I’m found.
THIS IS MY FUTURE NOW.
