National Custodian Day
Gratitude for Our Custodial Workers!

Dear Families, Colleagues, Partners, and Friends,

National Custodian Day is October 2, and I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for our custodians who work in all our schools and at the Central Office. They are critical to our District Model for Excellence Three Year Plan priority, which focuses on skillful staff and effective operations. They work hard to ensure our facilities are equitably safe, secure, well-maintained and appealing to our students, families, and staff.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our custodians have remained on the front lines and implemented, with fidelity, the cleaning and disinfecting protocols in accordance with state and local guidelines for keeping our community safe. They are present during the school day attending to their regular duties and emergencies that arise. Our custodians do this hard, indispensable work with a smile and good cheer.

Let’s show our appreciation to our custodial workers!

With gratitude,

Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez
Superintendent
Hartford Public Schools
