National School Principals Day

Message to Principals on National School Principals Day from Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez

May 1, 2020

Dear School Administrators, Teachers, and School Staff,

Today is School Principals Day. On this occasion, I would like to thank our principals for their leadership, passion for education, and for the care and commitment they have shown for our school and for our students.

Principals lead the work that drives our mission to inspire and prepare all students for college, career, and life. They lift the priorities of our District Model for Excellence, supporting our educators to provide excellent Teaching and Learning, creating welcoming School Climates, collaborating with Family and Community Partners, and ensuring Operational Effectiveness.

Our Principals have made it possible for schools to continue to deliver learning to our students during this pandemic, mobilizing to launch our distance learning plan in a short period of time. They have worked with administrators and staff to serve all our students’ needs with timely distributions of food and devices. Their vision assures that students feel safe and valued, and that we truly support the whole student.

We recognize the lasting contributions our Principals make to the lives of our students, families and our entire community. On behalf of everyone in the Hartford Public Schools community, I thank you for your heart, your strength, and for your dedication to serving all our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez
