Pathways Academy of Technology and Design Alum Wins Global Young Entrepreneur of the Year at Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Global Showcase in New York City

Hartford, CT (March 23, 2017) — Miguel Vazquez Jr. Founder and CEO of MV Consulting and a graduate of Pathways Academy of Technology and Design, has been awarded the 2017 Global Young Entrepreneur Award for the New England region. This award honors entrepreneurial graduates who launch successful businesses after completing the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) program. Miguel travelled to NYC to accept his award at the 2017 Global Showcase on March 23rd at Cipriani in the Financial District in Manhattan.

This elegant annual event celebrates NFTE’s extraordinary teachers and alumni from around the world with our Global Young Entrepreneur and Global Enterprising Educator Awards, as well as our Volunteer of the Year award winners, and featuring a panel moderated by Forbes Editor Caroline Howard of #30Under30 entrepreneurs.

Miguel’s entrepreneurial spirit stemmed from his NFTE class in high school, and matured throughout his four years at Babson College, where he was the NFTE Scholar recipient. According to Jennifer Green, Regional Director of NFTE, “Miguel is a natural born role model. With an entrepreneurial mindset, a heart of gold, and a passion to help others, Miguel is an inspiration to us all.”

John Griffin, Miguel’s NFTE teacher at Pathways, and NFTE’s 2016 Teacher of the Year, has been by Miguel’s side since the first day they met back in 2006, acting as a mentor and a friend. Now, more than a decade later, though retired, Mr. Griffin still bursts with pride when hearing of Miguel’s accomplishments.

Above all, Miguel values serving others and the community. “Here I am with a selfless heart ready to connect with other changemakers to tackle our social problems.” He is determined to “empower people – locally and globally – to take ownership of their lives.”
