Our First Family Convocation Opens the School Year with Crucial Information and Entertainment for Families

Family Convocation 2013!

 
Hartford Public Schools hosted over 100 parents and community members at its first Family Convocation on Saturday, September 21st at the newly renovated M.D. Fox School at 470 Maple Avenue in Hartford.  The morning included a demonstration of the newly launched Parent Portal (PowerSchool tool for parents,) by Glendowlyn Thames, and a presentation on attendance issues by Eddie Genao.  Ombudsman and Family Services Director, Marta Bentham presented the New Family & Community Engagement Plan.  The Gifted ones, a dance troupe including students from Noah Webster, Kinsella, Jumoke Academy and M.D. Fox, led by Kim Bridges gave a bravura student performances. 
 
Flanked by Ombudsman, Marta Bentham on the left and Chief of Early Literacy & Parent Engagement, Eddie Genao  and Glen Hall, Special Assistant for Major Projects on the right, the members of the Family & Community Engagement Task Force received awards of recognition for their service to the community and the schools.

A light breakfast was served from 8:30am until 9:00 am, and childcare was provided.  Next year's  event will be even bigger.
